Dated updates lead to “new look” haters

The thing with technology is it needs updating, but dated updates lead to new look haters, and Bingo is no exception. Some of the technical up dates are great but they make the site look dull. This new “retro” look is starting to get a little old (excuse the pun). Time to put some sparkle back into the home pages and make the games look as good as they play. After all we players don’t just want the tasty pots, we want the fun and thrills too.
I get the fact that we all need to improve and update, but not at the expense of losing all the fun from the site. Most of the recent updates have all taken on a cheap look and feel. I don’t want to point fingers at one specific case because there are loads, but look at Wink Bingo. I love Wink Bingo, they are a great place to play with really good games and a great CS team, but their website home page sucks. Where’s the sparkle? OK I know that once you are past the home page and start playing, they are still one of the best online sites around. So why the poor look? I know that existing players will still play, but what about new players?? Where’s the curb appeal?

Online players are getting younger and very computer literate. They play console games and are very tech savvy, so why the “retro” look?? It’s time to understand that Bingo is more than just plugging into a game and waiting for the cash to come, it’s about participation and fun. Here’s 2 perfect examples of what I mean;

  1. The “Go Fish” freebie at Tombola Bingo. Deposit £2 the week before and get your SMS code in. Then match the sets of fish to add to your fish tank. I’ve been playing this game now for 3 weeks and haven’t won a thing, but my fish tank looks great at the end of the week.
  2.  Live Win moments at BingoCams. What a great idea. Film your win moment and put it online. This is exactly what online Bingo is about. It’s got nothing to do with how big the pot is, but to do with taking part and sharing that experience. Way to go BingoCams

Bingo is not a skilled game. You need luck and patience, so why not make it about the waiting time during and between games. We are here to be entertained, and that starts with the home pages. So entertain please and let’s rethink the boring make-overs. Game ON
