Mastercard crackdown on US gambling payments

The controversy of the US gaming ban is still in full swing and has now been backed by Mastercard with VISA on the way. The Credit card giant has hit gambling platforms that operate within the US with an overnight crackdown on the widespread practice of operators coding eGaming transaction as other kinds of online commerce, which will prevent all its US customers from using their cards to gamble online.

The legality of the decision is one that has been raised, but looks likely that Mastercard's rival VISA will follow suit and put into place a similar action backing the implementation of America’s Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), which bans the support and use of online gambling by payment companies.

Many have raised the issue of duel standards towards the offline gaming industry in the US, where Casinos from some of the more famous states in the US have virtually no restrictions placed on them regarding gaming or payment methods.
